The 2nd International NEPS Conference on October 5-6, 2017 at LIfBi in Bamberg assembles 24 paper and 15 poster presentations. The program is complemented by a keynote lecture and by an award ceremony for the best NEPS publication and the best conference poster.

The 6th workshop on the analysis of incomplete data (AID) held at the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) on July 19, 2017, illustrated the different strategies that a public data provider can adopt—namely, to either provide the tools for imputing within the analysis, or to impute first and then analyze.

The deadline for submitting proposals to present a paper or poster at the 2nd International NEPS Conference ends on June 30, 2017. The conference addresses an interdisciplinary audience of researchers working with data of the National Educational Panel Study. Empirical contributions on all NEPS topics, including methodological issues and comparisons with other national or international surveys, are welcome. As part of the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories’ (LIfBi) involvement in the National Report on Education 2018, Dr. Oliver Winkler (Martin-Luther-University of Halle-Wittenberg) was invited for a guest lecture as an expert on downward and upward mobility during the school career. On April 7, 2017, he gave a presentation on the topic of “Second chance education during the life course. A sequence pattern analysis of intermediate secondary school graduates making up for Abitur.”

4th Annual General Meeting of NEPS

On February 13, 2017, the Annual General Meeting of the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS) met in Bamberg for the fourth time. The NEPS Annual General Meeting represents scientists from the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories and different cooperating institutions. In this way, the NEPS receives expertise from different academic disciplines. The meeting focused on reinventing the process of instrument development for NEPS as well as its future development.
