The NEPS conference series of the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi, Bamberg) brings together scientists from different disciplines and from different stages of their academic careers to discuss current projects and findings in educational research. The framework for this event is provided by the National Education Panel Study (NEPS) with its six panel cohorts and its database on competence development, educational choices, learning environments, returns to education, etc.
This year, the NEPS Conference is organized for the fifth time by LIfBi - and it will be a special one: Firstly, the NEPS study celebrates its tenth anniversary. Secondly, the Corona pandemic requires a new approach to run the event. The entire event will take place in a virtual format. Of course, the exchange between the researchers should not be neglected. There will be different opportunities for interaction during and between the sessions. The video format also allows for a broader participation of the scientific community.
What remains as before is that empirical analyses of all relevant educational processes and stages will be presented in a variety of interesting paper and poster contributions. The program also features a keynote lecture by Michelle Jackson, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Stanford University (U.S.), on fundamental causes of educational inequality. The traditional award ceremony for the best NEPS publication and a round table with the Research Data Center team at LIfBi complete the agenda. Conference language is English.
