The panel data of six NEPS starting cohorts and the longitudinal data of two finalized NEPS additional studies are provided, free of charge, to researchers in the form of Scientific Use Files. All data sets are released in Stata and SPSS format with metadata in German and English language. The download of data packages presupposes a valid Data Use Agreement and a Login to the website. Access to the Semantic Data Structure Files is possible without any requirements. These files are “emptied” Scientific Use Files which can be used for exploring the data structure and the metadata.

The Scientific Use Files of NEPS are cumulatively prepared and documented, i.e., the current data version does not only include the information from the latest survey wave but also the information from all previous survey waves. Each version of a Scientific Use File is clearly labeled by a DOI (Digitial Object Identifier). The button “Expand All” lists all former data versions in the table. As a basic rule, we recommend to use the most current data version of a Scientific Use File.
