The packages of linked data generated within the framework of the NEPS-ADIAB project is offered jointly by the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi, Bamberg) and the Institute for Employment Research (IAB, Nuremberg). NEPS-ADIAB consists of the survey and test data from participants of the „National Educational Panel Study (NEPS, SUF Download Version)“ as well as the respective information from the administrative database of the IAB, provided that the respondents have given their consent to the linking of their data and that they could be identified in the data of the IAB. Currently, the data offered includes the Starting Cohorts 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 of the NEPS. The administrative data come from the Integrated Employment Biographies of the IAB, which contain entries compiled and prepared from the employee history, the benefit recipient history, the unemployment benefit II recipient history, the jobseeker history, and the participants-in-measures history.
NEPS-ADIAB can be used in particular to address research issues that require very accurate income data over the life course. The enrichment also entails a possible extension of the observation period, as some of the administrative data go back to 1975.
NEPS-ADIAB contains weakly anonymized data and can therefore only be analyzed during a guest stay at one of the locations of the Research Data Center of the Federal Employment Agency at the IAB and subsequent remote data processing. For working with the linked data, a contract must be concluded with both the Research Data Center of the IAB and the LIfBi. Detailed information on the data packages and data access can be found on the IAB-FDZ websites and in the respective FDZ Data Reports.
